Saying Goodbye to 2014

2014 went by SO fast…in the blink of an eye.  We are closing it out with a bang. Christmas night I started having some extreme pain in my stomach….which led me to having surgery the next day…i’ll have to write about that sometime.  While I was in the hospital, 3 of the kids came down with the flu.  Thankfully we have a great daddy who has held our family together and taken care of all FIVE of us!  My hero!

I wanted to share some of my favorite highlights from the year, while I have a little spare time on my hands!
2014January // We spent a lot of time at home, as Beckham got the flu and we needed to keep him healthy!  Wee enjoyed lots of newborn snuggles.  The girls went back to school!

February // We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day together.  One painful memory – I had very painful mastitis while I also had to undergo a very painful root canal the same day.  We have given the medical industry a LOT of money this year.  😉  Thankful for insurance.

March // We had a super fun 100th day celebration for our sweet Beckham on March 2nd.  It snowed at the beginning of the month…and then it was 72 degrees out on March 18th.  That’s oklahoma for you!

April // We all enjoyed some more beautiful spring weather, taking some photos and playing outside after the cold winter months!

May //  We went to the beach.  That is the highlight of our YEAR…we love the beach.

June // Lily & Lauren turned 4! We went on hikes, played outside, went to the kiddie park and went to the zoo.  We celebrated our sweet daddy for Father’s Day!

July // We all dressed up like cows for free chicken at Chick-fil-a!  We took a trip to San Antonio to see Grandma & Grandpa.

August // It was a monumental day when my sweet Brooke started Kindergarten.  It has been hard for me that she is gone so long throughout the day.  The twins started Preschool, which is just half day.  I have, however, enjoyed my one-on-one time with Beckham each morning.

September //  Brooke turned SIX!  The girls completed their first full month of school and LOVE it! We spent a lot of time playing outside in the beautiful Oklahoma fall weather!  I purchased my first starter kit from Young Living, and have LOVED the oily goodness, and sharing that love with others!

October // We went to the pumpkin patch…this is something the girls look forward to each year! I ran my first 10k and then a 15k with some sweet friends…I’m so thankful for the experience! For Halloween, we had an Elsa, Ana, SuperGirl and Batman.  Lily got lost in the crowd in our neighborhood, and I have never been so scared…thankfully it didn’t take long for Landon to rescue her.

November // Landon and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary.  We celebrated by taking all of our kids out to eat, and talked about how we have never been so tired.  ha!  Our sweet little Beckham turned ONE, and we had such a great time celebrating him, and the joy he has brought our family over the year!  I ran my first half marathon, and was so thankful to complete!

December // December went by in a blink of an eye!  The girls got to celebrate at their school parties, participated in the church musical. We had a wonderful Christmas celebrating Christ’s birth with our family here in Oklahoma, and my parents came up from Texas to spend Christmas day with us!  Thankfully, the appendix situation didn’t start until bedtime Christmas Day…so we all got to have a wonderful day together.

2014 was a tough year for our family.  Tough, but good.  We have learned to be thankful for the little things.  God has shown His love, protection and provision in each difficult situation we have come across…even the little tiny details.

I’m looking forward to 2015.  I’m thankful for this time that God has force me to SLOW down….to enjoy each moment, and to prepare for the coming year.  There are so many things that I want to accomplish, and so many things I want to change.  I know that it all has to be in accordance to His plan…so I’m thankful that He is the one that guides our steps.

Merry & Bright

beckhamI can’t believe how quickly Christmas snuck up on us this year!  🙂  This year has gone by so quickly. I wanted to share a few photos from this month on here.  I LOVE my family photos taken by my friend Traci.  She did such a wonderful job capturing our family!

This year Landon & I celebrated SEVEN years of marriage.  God has blessed us with four sweet children, and has blessed me with an amazing husband!  I’m so thankful for God’s perfect plan.

Yes…that is blue throw-up on Beckham’s sweater.  He was just getting over the stomach bug…and this crazy mama fed him fruit loops before our photo shoot.  He threw up shortly after we started, but thankful Traci had already gotten our family together!  🙂  We all laughed while he cried…poor baby!

It has been a trying year for our family, but God has shown Himself faithful so many times.  He has provided for every need we have had…big and little.  I’m thankful for the struggles, because they have proven our God to be faithful, loving, merciful…Jehovah-Jireh.

I had such a fun time this year taking more photos of the kids.  I LOVE getting my camera out and taking photos….I want to remember each stage of life, and their little personalities.  They change so much!

Brooke started Kindergarten this fall and has changed so much.  She has blossomed into an outgoing, caring and very thoughtful little girl.

The twins always amaze me with their special bond.  They do everything together…but are polar opposites.  In the classroom they are independent of each other and have their own friends and interests.  I love that they have their own unique personalities.  It’s so fun listening to them play together….Lily is the ninja turtle and Lauren is Doc Stuffins.

OH sweet Beckham.  What a sweet baby.  Christmas is just so much fun this year with this little adventurous little guy.  He loves taking ornaments of the tree, and this morning I found him trying to open presents.  You will find Beckham trailing behind…crawling after his sisters all day long.  We all can’t get enough of this sweet boy!

I love thinking back over the last year and seeing all that God has done in our lives.  We have so much to be thankful for.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!!!

Christmas Photos

IMG_5892Two years ago I got the best Christmas gift.  After a long wait, we finally invested in our first DSLR Camera.  It has been such a special gift to me, as I have been able to capture so many photos of our family.  This year, I was so honored to take some Christmas photos for some friends.  I wanted to share some of my favorites!

My favorite photos from each family, are the ones where everyone is interacting and loving on each other.  You can find me at home just smiling in front of the computer as I am going through the photos in lightroom. IMG_7050

I had such a fun time with all of these families…there were lots of laughs and giggles.  I love being able to capture a little glimpse of the love that each of these beautiful families have for one another!

My Oily Routine

I have had so many questions about my Young Living oils, I wanted to share a little bit about how I use them in a quick blog post!

I started using a few oils on and off since the spring.  The three oils I had purchased were thieves, purification and peace and calming.  I borrowed a diffuser, and started diffusing these three oils in our household daily.  I noticed such a difference in our health!  I started saving up, and purchased the premium starter kit two months ago, and I don’t know why I waited so long!!

These oils have been such a lifesaver for Landon and I, even if only for the allergy trio (lavender, lemon, peppermint).  We have both been struggling with allergies so bad this fall, and by faithfully using these oils, we have not had to take any over the counter medications.  They have replaced a lot of items in our medicine cabinet…..helping ailments such as headaches, stomach problems, back pain and bug bites!

On a daily basis I diffuse Theives 2-3 times daily in our home…ALWAYS diffusing it when the kids come home from school.  I also roll it on the bottom of their feet before school or church to keep germs away!  I use purification in the diffuser, and also in my washing machine to keep towels fresh.  At night, I move the diffuser to our room, and use peace & calming as a nighttime routine!

Here are a few more of my favorite oils that have come in handy…

Panaway – I love rolling this on sore muscles and for back pain.
Lavender – This is a key ingredient in the allergy trio.  Also, when I have trouble sleeping, I use a couple drops in my shower to help me relax.
Frankincense – I have been using this on a scar that I have, and also on my face….it has been wonderful for clearing up blemishes!
Stress Away – I need to take a bath in this stuff….all kidding aside, I do have a roller top on this, and use it often.  🙂
